Sydney Cortright (b. 1989, Santa Barbara, CA) is an abstract painter living and working in Los Angeles, CA. She received her degree in field ecology from the University of Montana and hints of her education can be found in her practice; Cortright is usually painting while surrounded by stacks of field guides that identify butterflies, beetles, fishes, and fossils. She is an avid fly fisher and hunter and her outdoor experiences are prerequisite to her work. Cortright has exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group shows.
